The Travancore Heritage

We are situated at Suja Bhavan in Pullayal, which is over in the Kilimanoor area of Trivandrum. It’s a bit of a drive out from the main city center, but it’s a nice change of pace. The pin code is 695601 if you are trying to find us on a map. Our place, The Travancore Heritage, is really about the building and the land it sits on. We spend a lot of time making sure the grounds are kept up. It’s an old-style feel here, which is what we like. Most of the staff comes from the nearby villages. We wake up, sweep the paths, and get ready for whoever might be stopping by. It’s not a corporate office where everyone wears suits. We wear what’s comfortable for the heat in South India. Kilimanoor has its own history and we feel like a part of that. Sometimes the rain gets quite heavy and we have to run around closing all the windows. It’s just a practical way of living and working. We’ve got some rooms and some common areas where people sit. Nothing is overly polished, just real wood and stone. We do our own cooking and cleaning. It’s a lot of work to keep a place like this running, but we’ve been doing it for years now. We just take things one day at a time here at Suja Bhavan. The birds in the trees outside are usually the only noise we hear in the afternoon.
