Landmark Hotel Group is run by a few of us here in the Trivandrum area. Bythunnoor is a quiet place and we spend our time managing the buildings and the staff. It’s a lot of work to keep things running in Kanavila and Kanniyakulangara. We wake up early to make sure the breakfast is ready and the halls are swept for the guests. Sometimes the heavy rains in this part of Kerala make it hard to keep everything dry, but we do our best. Our main office is over in Vembayam and we have been situated here for a good while now. You won’t find us wearing fancy suits most days because there is too much practical work to do. We talk to the suppliers and we make sure the rooms are okay for whoever is staying. It is a family-run kind of feeling even though we have more than one spot. We don't really have a polished way of talking about the business. We just provide a place for people to sleep and eat while they are traveling through. The staff mostly comes from the local villages nearby, so everyone knows each other. It makes the atmosphere a bit more relaxed than those big city hotels you see on television. We just keep the doors open and do the work that is right in front of us every day.
