The Leela Kimpinski Kovalam Beach Resort

This is a bit of an unusual situation because our address is listed in East Sikkim, even though we are associated with The Leela Kimpinski Kovalam Beach Resort. We are currently operating out of Dhajey Dara in Gangtok. It’s a long way from the beaches of Kerala, but this is where our administrative contact, Kesang Doma Bhutia, is based. We handle various communications and coordination tasks from here. It’s a small office tucked away in a mountainous area. The weather is much colder than Kovalam, that’s for sure. We spend a lot of time on the computer and phone, making sure things are aligned. It’s not a grand hotel lobby here. It’s just a regular workspace with some desks and a lot of paperwork. Sometimes the mountain roads make it hard for mail to get through quickly. We have to be patient with the logistics. We aren't the ones you see at the front desk of the resort. We are the people behind the scenes doing the boring stuff. It’s quiet in Dhajey Dara, which helps us focus. We don’t have a big sign outside. Most people wouldn't even know we are doing resort work from this far away. We just follow the instructions and keep our records updated. It's a strange setup, but it works for us. We just keep things moving between Sikkim and the south. It’s a lot of coordination every single day.
