Sunny Hotel

Our shop is located in the basement of Sunrise Plaza in the Kumarapuram area of Thiruvananthapuram. We are right on the road that leads to the Medical College. Because of the hospital nearby, we see a lot of people who are in a hurry or looking for a quick bite while they wait for someone. Being in a basement shop helps a little with the Kerala heat, but it still gets quite warm when the stove is on. We aren't a hotel with rooms; we are more of a small eatery. We start very early in the morning to get the tea and the local snacks ready for the first crowd. The Kumarapuram-Medical College road is always full of buses and ambulances, so there’s a constant noise outside. We have a few simple tables and chairs for people to sit down. It’s a very basic setup. I spend most of my time making tea or serving plates of food. It’s a busy life, standing for hours and dealing with a lot of different people every day. Some of them are regulars who work at the college, and others are just passing through once. We don't have a big menu or anything fancy. Just the standard things people want when they are hungry and on the move. It’s just a small, local spot that’s been part of this street for a while now. We just keep things moving and try to stay on top of the orders. It isn't much, but it's what we do here every day.
