South West Travel

South West Travel is located on Light House Beach Road in Vizhinajam, which is very close to Kovalam. You can practically smell the salt in the air from our front door. Being this close to the beach means we see a lot of people in flip-flops and carrying towels. The office is small and the floor is usually a bit sandy because people walk in straight from the beach. We handle travel plans for people visiting the area or locals looking to head out. It’s a very casual environment here in Thiruvananthapuram. We don't wear suits or anything like that; it’s just too hot for that kind of thing. The fans are always whirring, trying to keep the humidity down. Sometimes we just leave the door open to get a breeze, even if it means some flies come in. We have a lot of maps pinned to the walls and stacks of brochures that have faded in the sun. It’s a busy place during the tourist season, and then it gets very quiet when the monsoons hit. We spend that time catching up on paperwork or fixing things around the office. It’s a good spot to be in, even if the building is a bit worn out from the sea air. We just do our thing day by day. You learn to live with the sand and the constant heat when you are this close to the ocean and the light house.
