Our place is located at Plavila Veedu in Karunilacode, down in Thiruvananthapuram. Being near the sea means there is always a bit of salt in the air and things tend to rust if we don't stay on top of the maintenance. It’s a bit of a climb to get the best views, but we think it is worth the effort most days. We started this resort because we had the land and figured people would like to see the water from up here. It’s not a big operation. Most of the time, it’s just us handling the bookings and making sure the kitchen has enough supplies for breakfast. The road up here can be a bit bumpy, especially after a heavy rain, so we tell people to take it slow. We don't have a big team of marketing people or fancy uniforms. We just wear what’s comfortable and get the work done. Sometimes we sit out on the porch when things are quiet and just look at the horizon ourselves. Dealing with the heat in Thiruvananthapuram is just part of life here. We spent a lot of time last year just painting and fixing the roof tiles. It’s a lot of work to keep a resort running, but we’ve lived in this area for a long time and we like being part of the community. Nothing too complicated, just a place to stay by the sea.
