Rainbow School

Pettah is a busy place, and our school sits right on the Railway Parallel Road at Prwa-59. You can hear the trains passing by all day long, which the younger kids seem to like quite a bit. It’s a simple building, nothing too fancy. We’ve been here in Thiruvananthapuram for a while now. Every morning, the staff arrives early to open the gates and get the classrooms ready for the day. There is usually a bit of a rush around the entrance when parents drop their children off before heading to work. We spend a lot of time cleaning the corridors and making sure the benches are straight. The weather here can get pretty humid, so we try to keep the windows open for a breeze. Sometimes the trains are loud, but we just wait a second and then keep going with the lessons. It is just a normal school day here. We have a small yard where the kids run around during the breaks. The paint on the walls might be a little faded in some spots, but it feels like a second home to us. Most of the people working here live nearby in the Pettah area, so we know the neighbors well. It is just a regular part of the community, tucked away by the tracks. We keep busy with paperwork and making sure everything runs on time, even if the rain sometimes makes things a bit messy outside.
