Friends Playschool And Kindergarten is located at House Number 6 on First Street in Jawahar Nagar. This is part of the Kowdiar neighborhood in Thiruvananthapuram. It is a residential area, so we are surrounded by houses and trees, which makes it feel a bit more private. Since we work with very small children, the atmosphere is quite different from a big school. There is a lot of singing, playing, and the occasional crying when someone misses home. We use the rooms in the house for different activities, and there is a small outdoor space where the kids can run around a bit. Our staff are mostly local women who have a lot of patience. We spend the day wiping sticky hands, helping with snacks, and making sure everyone is safe. It is a noisy place, but it's the kind of noise you get when children are busy. We don't have fancy office furniture or a corporate lobby. Instead, there are colorful mats on the floor and toys in the corners. The parents drop their kids off early on their way to work, so we are usually up and running before the neighborhood gets busy. We keep things simple and practical. Managing a group of toddlers takes a lot of energy, and by the time the afternoon comes, we are all ready for a bit of quiet. We’ve been here in Jawahar Nagar for a while now, just doing our thing.
