Managing Director, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation

This is the office for the Managing Director of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, located at Swathy, H.No.220 in SCT Nagar. We are tucked away in the Pattom area of Thiruvananthapuram. It’s a residential neighborhood mostly, so it is a lot quieter than the main city center. The building itself feels more like a house than a government department. We spend a lot of time dealing with files related to the various hotels and tourist spots across the state. Since this is the capital, there is always some paperwork moving back and forth between us and other departments. The fans hum overhead all day, and there’s always the smell of old paper and maybe a bit of dust. We don’t have fancy carpets or modern art on the walls. It’s just practical wooden desks and cupboards full of records. During the monsoon, the trees in SCT Nagar get really green and the rain hits the roof quite loudly, making it hard to hear phone calls sometimes. We have a routine here that doesn’t change much. We come in, check the correspondence, and try to keep things moving for the tourism sector. It’s not a fast-paced environment, but it is steady. People know us in Pattom as the place where the tourism stuff happens. We just keep our heads down and do the administrative work that keeps the bigger picture running for the tourists visiting Kerala.
