Fortune Hotel Southpark Trivandrum

Our place is called Sivasailam, and you can find it in the Kottarkavu area of Mavelikkara. Even though the name says Southpark Trivandrum, this specific spot is here in Alappuzha. It’s an interesting setup because it’s a bit of a drive from the main city buzz. The house is old but sturdy. We spend a lot of time managing the details for the hotel side of things from here. The backyard has some old mango trees that drop fruit during the season. We have a couple of desks pushed together in the main room where the planning happens. It’s often quiet, which helps when we have to go through the guest lists and supply orders. Sometimes the rain hits the tin roof so loud we can’t hear each other speak. We’re not fancy people. We wear our slippers around the office and drink tea from stained mugs. The road outside is narrow, so we have to be careful when parking the cars. Most of the people working here are from around Alappuzha, so we all speak the same way and know the same stories. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but it’s peaceful. We just focus on the logistics and making sure the hotel runs like it should. It’s honest work, and we don’t feel the need to make it sound like more than it is. We just keep the records straight.
