About Best Western Classis Avenue – Tourism in Thiruvananthapuram
Our place is called Thankam and it sits at 11/88 in Fortcochin. If you know this part of Kerala, you know it’s full of history and old buildings. We are tied in with Best Western Classis Avenue, but our physical spot has a much more local feel to it. Fortcochin is a strange place because it’s always full of tourists but it still feels like a small village where everyone knows your business. The building isn’t one of those new glass towers you see in the bigger cities. It has character, and maybe a few leaks when the monsoon really hits hard, but we wouldn’t change it. We spend our days handling whatever comes our way. Sometimes it’s a guest with a question, other times it’s just the usual paperwork that piles up on the wooden desks. The air smells like salt from the sea and whatever the neighbors are cooking for lunch. It’s a loud area during the day with the bikes and the calling out of vendors. We don’t try to be something we aren’t. We just provide a spot for people to find what they need. There’s no big marketing team here, just us sitting in the office trying to keep things moving. We’ve got a lot of old furniture and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels right for Fortcochin. It’s where we work every single day. The tourists pass by our window and we just keep on with the tasks at hand. It is simple work.
