This is the Y.H.A.I. unit over in Ambarnath, specifically in the Kansai Section of Thane. Our address is 333, and it’s a pretty easy number to remember. It’s a bit of a trek from the main railway station but it’s a solid, quiet neighborhood. We’ve been operating out of this building for quite some time now. The office is usually cluttered with old paperwork, dusty files, and some maps on the wall. There are four or five of us who handle all the day-to-day things that come up. We talk to a lot of people who are interested in traveling or staying at different hostels. We don’t have a fancy lobby or any of those modern glass partitions. It’s more of a functional space with some old chairs and a big wooden desk that's seen better days. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it’s dead quiet for hours on end. We try to keep the records straight, but occasionally things get a bit messy in the filing cabinet. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint soon, but it hasn't been a big priority for us lately. We are just local members trying to keep the unit running for the community. Most of us grew up around Thane, so we know the local streets well. It’s not about being a big corporation; it’s just about having a place where people can come. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next person.
