Smg Vidyamandir English School & Junior College is located on Agasan Road in Diva, which is a part of Thane that has changed a lot lately. Our school is right in the middle of all that growth. It’s a place for both younger kids and the ones in junior college, so the age range is quite wide. You see the little ones in their uniforms and the older students who are starting to think about what they’ll do after college. The building is a simple structure on a busy road. During the monsoon, the walk to school can be a bit of a mess with the mud and rain, but everyone still shows up. The classrooms are basic and the benches have seen many years of students. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or anything like that; we just use fans and keep the windows open. The teachers are mostly local people from Thane or Diva. They know the families and the struggles of getting to school on time with the train schedules. It’s a very grounded place. We focus on getting the lessons finished and helping the students prepare for their future. There’s a lot of energy in the hallways, especially during the breaks when everyone is trying to get a snack or talk to their friends. It’s just a normal school doing its job for the community in Diva every day.
