Jivan Jyoti English High School

Jivan Jyoti English High School is located in the Jivan Jyoti Building within the Kopri Colony of Thane East. If you know Thane, you know how crowded it can get, especially near the station side. Our school is right in the middle of all that activity in the 400603 area. The building is an older one, and it’s a bit of a maze once you get inside. We have several floors, and the staircases are always busy when the bells go off between periods. Since it’s a high school, the kids are older and the atmosphere is a bit more serious. We have a lot of students packed into the classrooms, so it gets quite warm during the humid months. We use big fans to keep the air moving, but it’s still a bit of a struggle. The teachers' room is usually a mess of textbooks and tea cups. We don't have a massive campus with grass and trees; we are an urban school through and through. The sounds of the colony—cars honking and people shouting—are always there in the background. We focus on getting through the English medium curriculum and making sure the students are prepared for their board exams. It’s a lot of pressure for the kids and the staff alike. We just show up every day, do the teaching, and try to keep things organized in a very busy and sometimes overwhelming environment for everyone.
