Sachin Malwani Katta

Sachin Malwani Katta is over in Kalyan City, specifically in shop number 7 of the Golden park building. We are on Beturkar pada road, right opposite the Saraswat Bank. If you know that bank, you won't have any trouble finding us. Our shop is quite small, so it’s more of a cozy spot than a big restaurant. We focus on Malwani cooking because that is what our family has always made. We use a lot of fresh coconut and those red chillies that give the food its specific color and taste. Every morning, we have to source fresh fish and chicken from the market. It’s a lot of work to get everything cleaned and ready before the lunch crowd arrives. The interior is very basic with just a few small tables and some plastic chairs. We don’t have air conditioning, so the ceiling fans are always on high speed. My wife helps out with the cooking and she makes sure the masalas are ground just right. We get a lot of people who just want to pick up a parcel on their way home from work. It can get a bit noisy when the shop is full, but that’s just how it is in Kalyan. We’ve been here for a few years now and we know most of the people who live in the building. It’s a small family operation and we just do our best to keep things moving every day.
