Red Orchid

Our shop is number 12 on Phadke Road in Dombivli East. It’s right opposite Modern Furniture, so that's the easiest way to tell people where we are. Kusum Baug is just right there too. This street is always packed with people, especially in the evenings when everyone is coming home from the station. We’ve been here for a good while. The shop is small, and sometimes we have to stack things up high just to find space to move around. It's not the most modern looking place, but it's home to us. We know most of the other shop owners on this block. We talk a lot while waiting for customers to come in. Sometimes the rain in Thane gets so bad that the water almost comes up to the doorstep, then we have to scurry around to move the stock. It’s a lot of manual work. We don’t really use a computer for much, just a notebook for most of our stuff. People in Dombivli like to talk, so we spend a lot of time just chatting with whoever walks in. It’s a very local vibe. We don’t have any big corporate goals or anything, just trying to make a living and keep the shop going for another year. It gets dusty with all the construction nearby but we try to keep it as clean as we can.
