Our workshop is at Unit No.94 in the Punjani Industrial Estate, which is on Pokharan Road No.1 in Khopat, Thane. It’s a busy area with a lot of manufacturing going on. We deal with plastic cup filling and sealing machines, so the space at Cemre Makina is usually filled with various mechanical parts and tools. The industrial estate is quite old, and our unit has that lived-in feel to it. There is grease on the benches and the smell of oil in the air, which is exactly how a machine shop should be. We spend our hours assembling parts or troubleshooting how a sealer is working. It’s noisy work, especially when the neighbors are running their heavy equipment at the same time. We don’t have a fancy front office with a receptionist. Usually, if someone comes by, they just walk right into the unit and find one of us. We don't worry about looking polished or corporate. Our focus is on the machines sitting on the floor. If a machine leaves the shop working better than it arrived, then we’ve done our job for the day. That’s the reality of life here in Khopat for those of us who work with our hands.
