We are located right across from the Kumaran Nagar bus stop in Ponniammanmedu. It’s a convenient spot because everyone knows where the bus stop is, even if they’ve never heard of Selvam Nagar. We’ve been doing planning and design work out of this office for a good bit now. It isn't a huge place, just a simple setup where we sit down and figure out how to put buildings together. We deal with a lot of the local regulations and the technical side of things that most people find boring or confusing. It’s a lot of measuring and double-checking numbers. Chennai is a tricky city to build in sometimes, with the weather and the way the ground is. We try to be practical about what can actually be done with a certain budget or a small piece of land. A lot of our day is spent looking at maps or talking to builders who are on-site. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Usually, people just find us because their neighbor used us or they saw our sign while waiting for the bus. We like keeping it simple like that. If someone comes in with a sketch on a napkin, we take a look and see if it’s possible. It’s just about being useful to the community here in Madhavaram. The fan in the office hums all day, and there's always a stack of papers to get through, but we enjoy the work.
