Architecture&Interiors (Umas' Studio)

Our studio, which people usually call Umas' Studio, is located at No.38 in Chennai. It’s an older building, and we like the character it has. We’ve been here for a while, doing a mix of architecture and interior work. Chennai can be very humid, so we usually have the windows open to catch any breeze while we work on our designs. Our studio is not a big corporate office; it feels more like a workshop where things are constantly being made and changed. We have sketches pinned to the walls and samples of fabric and wood scattered on the side tables. It is a bit disorganized at times, but that is how we work best. We deal with all sorts of people, from local homeowners to small shop owners who want a new look. We don't go in for big speeches or marketing talk. We just listen to what someone needs and try to draw it out for them. The staff here is small, and we all do a bit of everything, from measuring sites to answering the door. Sometimes we stay late when a project is moving fast, just drinking coffee and finishing up the final touches on a plan. It is a simple, hardworking place in the middle of a busy city. We have been at this address, which used to be number 21, for many years.
