Om Shanti Vidyalaya

Patdi is a quiet place mostly. Being in the Kp Jining Compound means we have a bit of space away from the main road noise. Surendra Nagar gets really hot in the summer, you know. We have these big windows to let the air in, but sometimes it doesn’t help much. The kids don’t seem to mind, they just run around the compound during the breaks. Our school, Om Shanti Vidyalaya, has been around for a bit. It’s not a brand new building with glass walls. It’s made of solid brick and the walls have that lived-in look. We have a few trees near the entrance that give some shade for the parents when they come to pick up their children. The road outside is a bit dusty, especially when the tractors go by heading towards the fields. We just do our thing every day, ringing the bell at the same time and making sure the lessons are done. It’s a local school for local people. Most of the teachers live just a short walk away. We know almost all the families in this part of Gujarat. It feels more like a community than a business or a formal institution. There’s always someone stopping by to chat or ask about their kid’s progress. We like it that way. It’s just a regular school in a regular town, trying to do right by the kids who come here to learn.
