About Vishal Metal Works – Metals & Minerals in Surat
We’ve been here at 5/761-B in Haripura for a long time now. If you walk past the Taratia Hanuman Temple, you’ll probably hear us before you see us. There is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the grinders going off. It gets pretty dusty inside the shop, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front. My clothes usually have some kind of grease or metal shavings on them by noon, but that is just how it is working here. We handle a lot of different metal pieces, some big and some small, depending on what shows up that day. People from the neighborhood drop by mostly. Sometimes they just want a small weld or they are looking for a specific bit of steel. The floors are concrete and they've seen better days, stained with oil and marks from heavy equipment being moved around. It is not a fancy place at all. We have a couple of old fans that try their best to keep the air moving when the heat gets bad in the summer. Usually, we just keep the doors wide open. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. If you ask for a specific tool, I can usually find it under a pile of scrap within a minute or two. It’s a busy spot but we like the routine of it. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
