If you head down Varachha Road, you’ll see us near the CNG pump. We’re right opposite the big water tank, which is the easiest way to tell people where we are. Shyam Shilp Art And Ceramic is full of crates and heavy pieces of ceramic. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes because things arrive faster than we can put them away. The yard is usually full of tiles and stone work. We get quite a bit of dust from the road, especially with all the cars going to the pump. My cousin helps me out with the heavy lifting. We don’t have a big team or anything. Just us and a couple of helpers when things get really busy. The samples are leaning against the walls. Some of them have been there so long they’ve got a bit of dirt on them. We just wipe them off when someone wants to see. It’s a loud spot with the traffic, but the water tank is a good landmark. We don't spend money on big ads. Most people just see the shop while they’re driving by. It's honest work. We spend our time checking the stock and making sure nothing is cracked. It’s not a glamorous life, but it pays the bills. We close up when the sun goes down and head home. It is a long day but we are used to the routine by now.
