Shakambari Art Creation

Shakambari Art Creation is tucked away in Ebrahim Manzil, right on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. If you know the Ring Road, you know it’s never quiet. The horns are constantly going and there’s always a truck or a bike passing by our window. We spend most of our time inside the rooms here, working on different art pieces and textile designs. It’s more of a workspace than a fancy showroom. We have tables pushed together and piles of sketches and fabric samples scattered around. It’s a bit of a mess, if I’m being honest, but that’s how we work best. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the orders to worry about that. People come to us when they want something specific made, usually clothes with a bit of a creative touch. We’ve been at 3321/22 for a while now, and the neighbors are all used to the sound of our machines. Lunch is usually eaten together on one of the worktables. It’s a practical place. We don't have a big sign outside, so people sometimes miss us the first time they come by. We just focus on the stuff we’re making and try to get things done on time. It’s hard work and the days are long, but it keeps us going. We’ve been on this road for so many years now that the noise doesn't even bother us anymore.
