Ambika Arts

Ambika Arts is up on the 3rd floor of the Gilitwala Building. We are located at 1 Surat Marve Road in Malad West, right across from the Shivanjali Complex. Being on the third floor means we have to carry things up and down quite a bit, which keeps us moving. The space is filled with supplies and projects in various stages of being finished. It is not the most organized looking place, but we know where everything is kept. The view out the window toward Shivanjali Complex is alright, mostly just watching the traffic go by on Marve Road. We spend our days working on different artistic pieces and designs. It is quiet up here compared to the street level, which helps when you need to concentrate on a detail. Sometimes the lift in the Gilitwala Building is a bit slow, so we end up taking the stairs. We have been in Malad West for a while now and have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. Our work area has paint stains on the floor and scraps of material in the corners, but it feels like home to us. We do not have a big staff, just a few people who enjoy making things. People find their way up here when they need something specific done. We just keep our heads down and stay busy with whatever project is currently on the table. It is a messy, honest way to spend the day making art.
