Sanchi Creation

Plot No. 35 in the Gorgiwala Compound at Bhesthan is where we spend our days. It's a bit of an industrial vibe here, not like a shopping mall. The compound has several other units, so there's always a low hum of machinery or people shouting across the yard. Sanchi Creation is one of those places where you just walk in and see work happening right away. There are piles of material on the tables and a few fans humming to keep the heat down. Bhesthan is a bit away from the main city center, so it feels a little different and less crowded than the middle of Surat. The dust from the road settles on everything if you leave the doors open for too long. We spend our time checking the creations, making sure the designs look okay on the cloth. It’s not a quiet job by any means. People are always coming in with delivery notes or asking where to drop off a load of fabric. We have a small desk in the corner with a lot of old ledgers and some pens that barely work. The floor is concrete and shows all the years of dragging heavy stuff around. Around mid-afternoon, it gets quite hot, and we usually take a break near the entrance where there’s a bit of a breeze. It’s a straightforward life. We aren't doing anything fancy, just making sure the daily tasks are finished. By the time we lock up, the sun is setting over the sheds.
