Bajar Village is where we are, right in Ward No 7. If you know Vyara, you know the Main Road is always full of noise and people moving about. We’ve got M.B. Masala set up here. It isn’t a fancy place with big glass windows or anything. It is just a work space where we deal with spices all day long. The smell of turmeric and chili gets into everything, even the curtains in the back room. In the mornings, we open up the shutters and the dust from the road blows in a little bit before the traffic really gets going. We spend most of our time weighing things out and talking to the people who stop by. Vyara can get quite hot in the summer, and the fan in the corner just moves the warm air around, but we are used to it by now. It is a local life. We see the same faces every day heading down the road toward the center of town. Some people stop to chat about the weather or the price of things. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the bags are filled and the orders are ready. It’s practical work. Sometimes the rain comes down hard on the roof and we have to move the stock away from the door. That is just how it goes here in the village.
