Sardar Market is a crazy place to work, but we’ve been at J-35 and 36 for a long time now. Being on Puna Kumbharia Road means there is always traffic and noise, but that’s just how market life is. We deal with spices every single day. The bags come in early in the morning on trucks and we have to get them inside before the sun gets too high. It’s hard work, mostly lifting and shifting things around. No air conditioning or fancy offices exist here. It is just a warehouse style setup with plenty of room for the stock. Our team knows the market like the back of their hand. We talk to the other traders and share a tea when things slow down in the afternoon. Sometimes the dust from the peppers gets everywhere, so we keep the floors swept as much as we can. It’s a straightforward business. We buy, we process a bit, and we sell. There are no complicated strategies in this building. We just try to be fair and keep things steady so people come back next time they need a refill. If you come by the market, you’ll see us busy with the scales and the stitching machines for the bags. It’s just regular work for regular people. We like being part of this community even if it gets loud and messy sometimes.
