Rajni Processors

Rajni Processors is tucked inside the Anil Dyeing Compound here in Surat. This part of the city is always full of trucks and the smell of various dyes. We spend our days processing different kinds of cloth that come to us from the local mills. It’s a lot of work involving big vats of water and heat to get the colors just right. The floor is almost always wet because of all the rinsing we have to do. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning; mostly we are out on the floor making sure the batches are moving along the line. It's a tough job and the hours can be long when we have a big order to finish. My cousins and I take turns managing the shifts so the work doesn't stop. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly as planned on the first try, so we have to adjust things manually. That is just how it goes in the dyeing business. People know where to find us in the compound if they have bundles of fabric that need coloring. We’ve been operating in Surat for quite some years now. It’s a noisy environment with the pumps and the steam pipes whistling, but we are used to it. We just focus on getting the fabric dried and folded so it can be sent back to the traders.
