Kotak Pan & Cold Drink

We’re right by the Ragigudda Bus Stop in the Mota Varachha area, at number 29. Kotak Pan & Cold Drink is a small shop where we sell pan and cold drinks. Since we are right next to the bus stop, we get a lot of people who are just waiting for their ride. They come in to buy a bottle of water or get a pan to pass the time. The shop is quite small, so it feels crowded even if there are only three or four people inside. I spend a lot of time dusting the bottles on the shelves because the road outside kicks up a lot of dirt. We have a big fridge that hums loudly all day, but it keeps the drinks cold, which is what matters when it’s hot outside. I usually sit on a small stool behind the counter and watch the buses go by. I’ve seen the same drivers for years now. Sometimes they stop for a quick drink if they have a minute. We keep the pan ingredients in small containers right in front of me so I can make them quickly. It’s not a complicated business. We just sell what people ask for and try to keep the place from getting too messy. When the sun goes down, we turn on the neon light outside. It’s a simple life and the neighbors are mostly okay people who live nearby. I usually close up once the last bus goes.
