King Cafe

We started this cafe here on Station Main Road a good while ago now. It stays pretty busy because people are always coming and going from the station at all hours. We are located right below Hotel Varun, which makes it easy to find if you are walking down Station Road looking for a place to sit. It is quite noisy outside with all the traffic and people shouting for rickshaws, but that is just how it is in Surat. Inside, it is a bit quieter most of the time. We spend a lot of time cleaning the tables and making sure the chairs are lined up right before the morning rush starts. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, but we just get the candles or the backup generator going. It is not a fancy place with big carpets or anything like that. We just have the basic stuff you need to sit down for a bit and rest your feet. The walls have some old frames on them and the floors are easy to mop down at night. Usually, I am the one opening up early in the morning when those first trains arrive. You see the same faces every day, mostly people who work nearby or travelers who look a bit tired from their trip. We do not have a big fancy menu, just the things people usually ask for. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running at full speed.
