Devi Super Store

Right near the Mahalaxmi Temple in Navtanpuri you can hear the bells ringing in the morning which is usually when we are opening up Devi Super Store. We are located on South End Road and it’s a good spot because people pass by us after they finish their morning prayers. The store is packed with groceries and things for the house and we try to keep the milk and bread right at the front for the early rush. Surat gets very hot in the afternoons and the store stays a bit cooler because of the high ceilings and the thick walls. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us since we first opened our doors on South End Road. I usually have a helper who works the evening shift because that’s when everyone stops by on their way home from work. The shelves are a bit crowded and we sometimes have to move the rice bags just to get to the back room. We don't have a big computer system for everything. We just use a regular notebook and a calculator like we always have. Devi Super Store is a simple neighborhood shop where people can get what they need without having to drive into the city center. It’s nice to be part of the community in Navtanpuri and we like the slow pace of life around the temple area.
