This branch is right in the middle of Basti Bazar in Nandniketan. It’s a busy spot, especially with all the shops nearby. We spend a lot of time making coffee and wiping down tables. The steam wand on the machine makes a lot of noise, and sometimes we have to shout a bit over the sound of the grinder. It’s not a library, that’s for sure. We get all sorts coming in. Some people stay for a long time with their papers out, and others just grab a quick cup and run. The lighting is a bit dim in some corners, but people seem to like it that way. We try to keep the place looking decent, though the door handle is a bit loose lately. We get a lot of students and folks working in the market. Sometimes it gets quite loud when the lunch rush hits. The bins fill up fast and we have to keep an eye on the milk supplies. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day. We have a few snacks in the glass case too, if someone wants a bite. It’s just a place to sit for a bit while you’re out in the bazaar. Nothing fancy about the way we run things, just making sure the coffee is hot and there’s a chair available. We’ve been here at Nandniketan for a while now, seeing the same people every morning and afternoon.
