Amar Soda Factory

Living and working in House No. 2073 can get a bit crowded sometimes, especially when we have a big batch of soda to finish. We are right here in Kasba Faliya, so everyone knows the sound of the machines clicking. It’s a small space, but we have everything lined up against the walls. My uncle started this a long time ago in Taluka-Valod, and we just kept it going. The District of Tapi gets really hot during the summer months, and that is when we are the busiest. Everyone wants something cold and fizzy then. We spend a lot of time just cleaning out the glass bottles and making sure the gas levels are right. Sometimes the labels don't stick perfectly because of the humidity, but the soda inside is what people come for anyway. We have a small porch where we stack the crates before the rickshaws come to pick them up. It’s a family thing, really. My sister helps with the counting, and I handle the heavy lifting of the crates. Sometimes a bottle breaks and we have a bit of a mess to mop up, but that’s just how it goes in a factory like this. We don’t have any fancy ads. People just walk up to the house or call us when they need a few cases for a wedding or a small party in the village. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
