A Ceramic Point

We are over at the Surat Industrial Suburb, specifically in the 2nd Stage near Tumkur Road. The shop is in that old Tenament Building right at Bhatar Char Rasta. It gets pretty loud outside with all the traffic passing through, but we’ve been here for a good while now. Dealing with ceramics is a messy business sometimes. There are stacks of tiles and bathroom fixtures taking up a lot of the floor space. Most days start with me opening the shutters early and checking if any new stock arrived overnight. It isn't a fancy showroom like the ones you see in the big malls. It’s just a place where people from the neighborhood come when they’re fixing up their houses or building something new. Sometimes we have tea while looking at patterns, and other times it's just a quick rush to get things loaded onto a truck. The space is a bit cramped because we try to keep a lot of variety on hand. My desk is usually covered in receipts and scraps of paper with measurements written on them. You won’t find any shiny brochures here, just real products you can touch and see. I think people like that we’ve stayed in the same spot for so many years. If you’re looking for something specific for your floors or walls, we probably have a crate of it tucked away somewhere in the back. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know.
