Vedavyas Women Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Jalda A Block, near Lathikata. We set things up at Binati Bhumij’s house because it was central for everyone. Most of the women involved in this live right around here and spend their mornings out in the fields. It’s a simple setup. We don't have many fancy tools, but we have each other. Farming in this part of the region comes with its own set of problems, like getting enough water or dealing with pests that show up out of nowhere. We talk about these things when we meet. Usually, there's a lot of noise and talking because everyone has an opinion on how to plant the next batch. We started this company to handle the selling part of our work. Before, it was hard to get the crops to the market and get paid what they were worth. Now, we try to pool everything together. It saves time and a bit of money on transport. We are just a group of neighbors really. Some of us grow vegetables, some do grains. It depends on the soil and the rain. We aren’t experts in business, but we know how to grow things. Working together in Jalda has made life a bit more predictable for our families. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day. We hope to keep this going for a long time.
