Jagyansini Mahila Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are located in Gopiakuda, which is part of the Kujang area in Jagatsinghapur. Our office is at Subash Ku Nayak’s place, and it serves as the main hub for our women’s farmer producer company. Being near the coast in Jagatsinghapur means we have to deal with a lot of wind and salt in the air, which definitely changes how we look at our crops. The women who make up this company are all from the local villages around Kujang, and we’ve been working together for a long time. It’s not always easy, as we have to balance our work in the fields with our chores at home, but we manage to make it work. Most of our days are spent talking about seeds, looking at the weather charts, and trying to figure out how to get our produce to the bigger markets without it spoiling. The office is a simple room where we keep our records and meet up to discuss the month’s plans. It gets a bit chaotic when everyone shows up at once with their kids, but that’s just how it is here. We don't have a mission statement or any of that, we just want to make sure the Jagyansini Mahila group stays strong so we can all earn a bit of a living. It’s honest, hard work and we take it one day at a time here in Orissa. No big promises, just crops and community.
