Ranisakti Women Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are a group of women farmers over in the Kuarmunda area. We work out of Bhaludumer, specifically at Bijay Kishan’s place. Most of us were farming separately before, but we thought it would be better to join up as Ranisakti. It’s a lot easier to get things done when there are more of us to share the workload. We do everything ourselves, from the heavy digging to the careful planting. It’s not an easy job and we don't pretend it is. Our clothes are usually messy and we are always tired, but we like being in charge of our own work. We grow all sorts of crops depending on what the weather allows. Being in a place like Kuarmunda, you have to be tough because the conditions aren't always perfect. We don't have any big marketing plans or glossy brochures. We just talk to each other and decide what needs to be planted next. We share our tools and our knowledge. If someone has a way of doing something that works, we all listen. It’s a very down-to-earth kind of company. We aren't trying to sound like a big business because we aren't. We’re just local women who know the value of a hard day’s work in the fields. We want our farms to be successful so our kids have what they need. That’s really all there is to it for us. We just keep going and do our part.
