Sambalpurian Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in the village of Sahaspur, which is part of the Maneswar block in Sambalpur. Sambalpurian is a name we chose because it’s where we are from and what we are. We are just a collective of farmers who live and work in this area of Orissa. Most of our days are spent out in the open, checking on the crops and making sure the irrigation is working like it should. We don't have a big fancy headquarters. We usually just meet up in the village to talk about what needs to be done. It’s a community effort, really. If someone’s crop is struggling, others might offer some advice or help out. We formed this company to make the buying and selling part of farming a bit more organized. It’s hard to get good prices when you’re just one person with a few bags of grain. Working together means we can get things done more efficiently. The work is physically tiring and the weather isn't always helpful, but we’re used to it by now. We take pride in what we grow, though we don’t talk about it in a boastful way. It is just the work we do to survive and support our families. We are just local people who know the rhythm of the seasons here in Sahaspur.
