Hair N Shanti

If you walk down the Main Road in Srinagar, you will find us at Jehangir Chowk. Hair N Shanti is right there at the Main Chowk, which is a very busy spot. There is always something happening outside, lots of people and cars moving around the 190009 area. The shop itself is simple. I have got my tools laid out on the counter every morning. The mirrors are old but they still show everything clearly. It gets cold here in the winters, so we try to keep the place as warm as we can for the customers. People come in for a quick trim or a shave. We don't have any of those expensive coffee machines or lounge areas. It is just a place to get your hair done and move on with your day. I have been working with these scissors for a long time. They feel right in my hand. Most of the guys who come in are working nearby or just passing through the chowk. We talk about the local things, the shops closing or opening. It is a very normal way to spend the day. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so I am always sweeping it up with a small broom. It is just me and the work. No big fuss about anything. We are just a part of the daily life in this part of Srinagar, standing right at the corner where everyone passes by to go home.
