Delhi Public School

Most people in Srinagar know the way to Pantha Chowk. That is where our school, Delhi Public School, is situated. It’s a big site in the 191101 area. Even though the name is well-known, we run things in a very local way. The campus has several buildings and some open spaces for the students. Because we are near Pantha Chowk, there is always a lot of movement around the area. Inside the gates, it is a bit more controlled. We have a lot of classrooms to look after. The walls are mostly plain with some student work pinned up here and there. We spend a lot of time on the basics of the curriculum. Teachers move from room to room with their bags of books and papers. In the winter, the heaters are always running to keep the chill away from the stone floors. The students come from all over the city and the outskirts. It’s a diverse mix of kids. We have a canteen where people get their snacks and a big field where sports happen when the weather is good. It’s a lot of work keeping a place this size going every day. There is always a desk that needs fixing or a window that won't shut quite right. We don't worry about being perfect; we just focus on the daily routine of classes and exams. It’s a busy, functional place in a busy part of Srinagar. We have plenty of trees around the edges of the property too.
