International Islamic School

Down on Airport Road in the Millatabad B area of Srinagar, you will find International Islamic School. It is right there in Peer Bagh, not too far from Gogji Bagh. The 190008 area is usually busy, especially with the airport traffic nearby, but inside the school, it is mostly just the sound of kids talking. We have a solid building that holds up well against the winter cold. During the colder months, we spend a lot of time making sure the heaters are working so the students can actually focus on their notebooks. The teachers here drink a lot of tea between classes to stay warm. We have kids coming from all over this part of Srinagar, and the morning drop-off can be a bit of a mess with the narrow lanes. It is a local spot where the neighbors know our faces. We do not have fancy marketing brochures or anything like that. We just have our classrooms, some maps on the walls, and the usual school supplies. On sunny days, everyone likes to stand out in the courtyard for a bit of warmth. The staff handles everything from fixing the gate to sorting out the library books. It is a lot of work keeping a school running in this climate, but we have been doing it for a while now. Most people in the neighborhood just drop by if they need to talk to us about something or check on their children during the afternoon.
