The Sweet Boutique

Our place, The Sweet Boutique, is up on the third floor of D-30 in Defence Colony. It is a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens once in a while. When you walk in, you usually smell sugar and whatever is in the oven right then. We spend most of our hours in the back with flour on our aprons. It gets quite hot in the kitchen during the summer months but we have some fans going to keep the air moving. Defence Colony is a nice neighborhood to be in, though parking on the street can be a real nightmare for anyone coming by. We started this because we liked making things for friends and it just grew into this little shop. The space isn't huge, so we have to be careful not to trip over each other when things get frantic. We keep our tools and ingredients on these metal shelves that we put up ourselves. Sometimes the orders pile up and we stay late, just quietly working under the lights. It’s not a big corporate operation. It is just a few of us trying to make things taste right. We don't spend money on fancy decorations for the shop floor. Most of our focus is on what is actually happening in the pans. We see the same faces coming in quite often which is nice. It makes the long days feel a bit more worth it when someone enjoys what we made.
