Subhlakshmi Traders

Our business, Subhlakshmi Traders, is located at 535 Badarpur Pul in Prahladpur. We are pretty close to the Tughlakabad Metro Station, so the area is always full of traffic and people rushing around. The space we have is more of a storehouse than a shop. It’s filled with crates and big bags of goods. The floor is just plain concrete and it gets quite cold in the winter. We don't have any comfortable chairs, just some old stools and a couple of metal desks. We spend the whole day checking lists and making sure the right boxes go onto the right trucks. It’s a lot of lifting and moving, so we are usually pretty tired by the end of the day. The walls are mostly bare, except for a few notes we’ve taped up. It’s not a place where people come to hang out. It’s a place where we get work done. We drink a lot of tea from the stall across the road to keep us going. The air smells like cardboard and sometimes a bit of engine oil from the trucks. We don't have a website or any fancy marketing. People who need what we trade just find us. Sometimes the metro noise makes it hard to hear on the phone, but we manage. We just keep things simple and focus on the stock we have. It’s a practical way to earn a living in this busy part of town.
