Shabnam General Store

This is our small family shop tucked away in Tughlakabad Extension. The address is T A/13/1, though some people find the lanes a bit confusing if they aren't from around here. It’s a tight space, packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of goods. We have everything from washing powder to biscuits and small toys for the kids. The neighborhood is always noisy and moving, so there is never a quiet moment at the counter. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. My brother and I take turns sitting at the front. It gets dusty because of all the traffic nearby, so we are constantly wiping down the counters. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon signs. It’s just a regular store where you can grab what you need and go. Sometimes we run out of things if the delivery truck gets stuck in Delhi traffic, but we try to keep the basics always ready. Most of our customers are just the neighbors who live in the flats nearby. They come in for a single onion or a pack of matches. We don't mind. It's how a local shop works. We know which kids like which candy and whose grandmother needs her specific brand of tea. It’s just a small part of the daily life here in the extension. We don't have a website or anything, just the physical shop where we spend our days.
