Rooopchand General Store

Rooopchand General Store is located right on the Main Mathura Road in the Badarpur area. If you are looking for us, we are right near Pillar No 32 of the metro line. Because the metro is right there, the area is always crowded with people rushing to work or coming back home. Our shop is quite small and we have utilized every single inch of space from the floor to the ceiling. We have boxes stacked up high and sometimes you have to move one thing to get to another. We sell all the usual general store stuff like tea, spices, cleaning supplies, and snacks. The noise from the traffic and the metro overhead is something we don't even notice anymore, though it can be quite a lot for someone new. I usually sit on a small stool near the counter and wait for the next rush of commuters. It’s a bit cramped inside and the lighting isn't the best, but we know exactly where every single item is hidden. My family has been working in this part of Delhi for a long time. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. People just see the shop as they walk past the pillar and drop in for whatever they forgot to buy earlier. It’s a busy, somewhat messy, but very honest way to make a living in the middle of the city's chaos.
