Rakesh General Store

Rakesh General Store has been sitting here in Safdarjung Enclave, over in Krishna Nagar 94/5, for as long as I can remember. It started out as just a tiny corner stall and slowly we added more shelves. Now we carry pretty much everything a household needs, from laundry soap to the specific biscuits the kids around here like. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to fit so much in, but that is part of the charm, I guess. I spend most of my day behind the counter, chatting with the aunties who come in for their daily milk and bread. You hear all the local news sitting here. We don't have a computerized system or anything fancy. I just write things down in a notebook if someone needs to pay me back later. Safdarjung Enclave is a nice area, and being at 94/5 means we get a lot of regular foot traffic. My son helps out in the evenings when the office crowd comes home and everyone wants something for dinner at the last minute. We don't do deliveries with an app, but if an old neighbor can't walk over, we’ll carry the bags to their door. It’s not about being a big supermarket. It is just about being the shop where everyone knows your name and you can find what you need without a hassle.
