This spot in East of Kailash, over at E-157, stays pretty steady throughout the week. Nirula'S has been a name people know for a long time, so we get families who used to come here when they were kids. Now they bring their own kids. The place isn't huge. We spend a lot of time wiping down the tables because the ice cream can get messy, especially when it’s hot outside. The Kalkaji area is always crowded, so finding a place to park outside is a nightmare for everyone. We see people getting frustrated before they even walk through the door. Once they’re inside, though, things calm down a bit. We keep the fridge units humming and make sure the toppings are stocked up. It’s not like those new fancy cafes that look like art galleries. It’s just a regular food joint with plain lights and tiles. The staff spends the morning prep time chopping vegetables or checking the bread delivery. Sometimes the delivery bikes outside block the entrance and we have to go out and ask them to move. It’s just part of the daily routine. We don't have a big team, so everyone does a bit of everything, from taking orders at the counter to cleaning up at the end of the night. It gets really loud during the evening rush when the schools nearby let out. We just keep serving scoops and burgers.
