We work out of a basement at B-176 in East of Kailash. It’s a bit tucked away, so you have to look for the stairs going down. Since we are in the basement, it stays fairly cool even when the Delhi summer is at its worst. We deal with exports, so there are always cardboard boxes stacked up to the ceiling. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped with all the packing tape and bubble wrap lying around. We spend a lot of time labeling things and making sure the addresses are right. It’s a lot of physical work, moving crates and checking lists. We have a small window near the top of the wall where we can see people's feet walking by on the sidewalk. That’s how we know if it’s raining outside. We have a small desk where we handle the paperwork. It’s not a fancy office with leather chairs. Most of the time we are wearing old clothes because of the dust from the boxes. We get our tea from the stall at the corner of the block. East of Kailash is a busy area, but down here in the basement, it feels like our own little world. We just keep our heads down and get the shipments ready. It’s a lot of routine, but we are happy to have the work. We close up around seven and head out into the evening traffic, heading home to our families.
