Kaushik Handloom

Kaushik Handloom is located at M-13 in Kalkaji, right near the primary school. You can often hear the kids playing during their break while we are working inside. We have been in this spot for quite some time now. The shop is small, but we pack a lot of handloom items into the space we have. It’s a bit of a local landmark for people who live around this part of Delhi. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just us handling the day-to-day tasks. Most of our day is spent unfolding fabrics for customers and then folding them back up again. It is a lot of manual work, but that is what handloom is all about. The shelves are stacked high with different colors and textures. Sometimes it’s hard to find exactly what someone wants right away, but we eventually get there after some searching. We like being near the school because it makes the neighborhood feel alive and busy. People stop by on their way home to pick up something for their house or for a gift. We don't do much in the way of marketing. Most people find us because they live nearby or their friends told them about us. It is a simple business and we try to keep it that way without making things complicated. We just open the shutters, sweep the floor, and see who comes in. That's our daily life here.
