About Hari Om Divya Boutique – Fashion & Trends in South Delhi
Working out of Okhla Industrial Estate Phase I at Plot No A 199 is a bit different from having a shop in a mall. It is more about the work being done than the window displays. Hari Om Divya Boutique is usually filled with the sound of sewing machines and the smell of fresh fabric. We have rolls of cloth leaned up against the walls in every color you can think of. Most mornings start with checking the measurements and making sure the thread matches the fabric perfectly. Sometimes the machines act up, and we have to spend an hour fixing a needle or oiling the parts. It is a busy place, and there is always someone coming in to check on their order or drop off a new design. The light in here is okay during the day, but we use extra lamps when we are doing the fine embroidery work late in the evening. The industrial estate can be a bit gray and noisy, but inside here, it is all about the colors and the textures of the silks and cottons. I spend a lot of time talking to the tailors and making sure everyone understands the pattern. We don't really do much advertising; people mostly find us because someone told them about a dress we made. It’s a lot of standing and reaching for things on high shelves, but seeing a finished piece makes the long hours feel okay. We just keep our heads down and do the stitching.
